Overview#
Eire Drive (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
The Eire Drive app is made and maintained by MyLabs Ireland, a subsidiary of Austin Study Labs.
Information We Collect#
Account information
- Email address — required for account creation and authentication.
- User ID — automatically generated when you create an account.
- Sign-in provider — whether you signed in with email and password, Google, or Apple.
- Name — only if you choose to share it when signing in with Google or Apple.
Your test activity
When you complete or leave a practice quiz or mock test, we save a record of that attempt to your account. It includes:
- Your score and the number of questions in the attempt
- Every answer you gave, including which option you chose and which was correct
- How long you took to answer each question, and the total length of the attempt
- Whether you finished the test or left part-way through
- When the attempt took place
We use this activity to show you your history and to estimate how ready you are for your theory test. That estimate is produced automatically from your saved answers and is shown only to you. It is an educational guide, not a prediction of your official test result, and no decision about you is made on the basis of it by anyone else.
Feedback you send us
If you use Share Feedback in the app, we collect:
- The category you picked and the message you wrote
- Your email address and user ID, so we can recognise the account and reply
- Your app version and build number
- Your device model and iOS version, which help us reproduce bugs
- When you sent it
The message box is free text, so it is possible to type things we would rather not hold — health or disability details, for example. We don’t need them to fix a bug, and we would rather not store them.
Tips
If you leave a tip, Apple processes the payment and we never see your card details. We record only that a tip happened: which tip you chose, its price, Apple’s transaction identifier, your user ID and email address, and the date.
Where Your Data Is Stored#
Your account and your test activity are stored in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), operated by Google Cloud Platform. Data is not held only on your device — it is synced to Firebase so your history is available when you sign in.
Our database and the server code that processes it are located in the European Union.
Access is restricted by security rules so that only your signed-in account can read or write your own records. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
How Feedback and Tips Reach Us#
Feedback and tip records are saved to our database in the European Union, and that is the only place we keep them.
We do get an email alert when something arrives, so that it doesn’t sit unread. That alert deliberately carries no personal information: it tells us the category (or the tip amount), the time it arrived, and a link we follow to read the message in our database. Your message, your email address and your device details are not in it.
An email would be a second copy sitting in a mailbox, and deleting your account could never reach it. Keeping one copy, in the database, is what allows deletion to actually mean deletion.
How We Use Your Information#
We use your information solely for:
- User authentication and account management
- Providing access to quiz features and your test history
- Producing your personal readiness estimate
- Reading and replying to feedback you send us
- Keeping a record of tips left through the app
- Improving app functionality and user experience
Data Sharing#
We do not:
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your information for marketing purposes outside the app
Your data is only shared with:
- Firebase / Google Cloud Platform — for authentication and storage services
- Apple or Google — where you choose to use their sign-in service
- Apple — which processes any tip you choose to leave
Our email provider carries the feedback alerts described above, but those alerts contain no personal information about you.
Data Retention#
We keep your account information and test activity for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, both are deleted as described below.
Feedback and tip records are kept for as long as your account exists, and are deleted with it.
Your Rights#
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Delete your account and all data associated with it
- Update your email address
- Receive a copy of your data
- Object to or restrict how your data is processed
- Withdraw from data collection entirely by deleting your account
If you are in the EU or UK, these rights arise under the GDPR. If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie).
Deleting Your Account and Data#
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app:
Account (person icon, top right of the home screen) › Delete Account
You will be asked to confirm your identity first. Deleting removes everything we hold against your account — your saved test history, your account record, and any feedback messages or tip records you have sent us — and then deletes your sign-in account itself.
If you would prefer us to do it for you, or you can no longer sign in, email [email protected] with the subject “Account Deletion Request” and we will process it within 30 days.
Children's Privacy#
This app is intended for users aged 17+ (learner drivers). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Third-Party Services#
Our app uses Firebase Authentication and Firestore, which are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
If you sign in with Apple, Apple’s Privacy Policy applies to that sign-in: apple.com/legal/privacy
Changes to This Policy#
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
